Information for students in order to get travel grants to attend EVIC 2009.

IEEE CIS Travel grants

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society offers 4 travel grants of US$500 each to help IEEE CIS student members not residing in Chile to attend the Summer School.

IEEE CIS Travel grants requirements:

  1. Registration as IEEE Student Member and as a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (a student could apply at the same time for IEEE and CIS membership).
  2. Certificate as graduate student at Master or Doctor Course, or senior undergraduate doing thesis work.
  3. Letter of recommendation from the student's advisor or equivalent.
  4. Curriculum Vitae including publications (limited to 3-4 pages).
  5. Abstract of poster paper to be presented at the CIS Poster Competition, to be held during EVIC 2009, written in English (3 pages).
  6. Students applying for a grant from IEEE-CIS must use the web-based grant application system.

Travel Grants Robotics.

    The IEEE Automation and Robotics Society and the Advanced Mining Technology Center offers 3 travel grants of US$500 each to help IEEE student members not residing in Chile to attend the Summer School. The application deadline is 30 October, 2009. The applicant should fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Registration as IEEE Student Member.
  2. Certificate as graduate student at Master or Doctor Course, or senior undergraduate doing thesis work.
  3. Letter of recommendation from the student's advisor or equivalent.
  4. Curriculum Vitae including publications (limited to 3-4 pages).
  5. Abstract of poster paper to be presented at the Robotics Poster Competition, to be held during EVIC 2009, written in English (3 pages).
  6. Students applying for a Robotic grant must send their applications to Prof. Javier Ruiz del Solar, e-mail jruizd@ing.uchile.cl.

Notes:

  1. Deadline for Application to Travel Grant: October 30th, 2009.
  2. Decision Notification: Novembre 5th, 2009.
  3. The deadlines cannot be extended.
  4. A student must actually attend the Summer School in order to receive the check.
  5. Beware that the travel grant amount may not be sufficient to cover the total travel expenses. We recommend to the students to apply for local help at their own university or IEEE section.
  6. A student must submit an abstract to the Poster Competition in Computational Intelligence at EVIC 2009 in order to apply for a travel grant.
