Information for students in order to get travel grants to attend EVIC 2008.
The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society offers 6 travel grants of US$500 each to help IEEE CIS student members not residing in Chile to attend the Summer School.
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society offers 7 travel grants of US$500 each to help IEEE RAS student members not residing in Chile to attend the Summer School.
IEEE CIS Travel grants requirements:
- Registration as IEEE Student Member and as a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (a student could apply at the same time for IEEE and CIS membership).
- Certificate as graduate student at Master or Doctor Course, or senior undergraduate doing thesis work.
- Letter of recommendation from the student's advisor or equivalent.
- Curriculum Vitae including publications (limited to 3-4 pages).
- Abstract of poster paper to be presented at the CIS Poster Competition, to be held during EVIC 2008, written in English (3 pages).
- Students applying for a grant from IEEE-CIS must use the web-based grant application system. The application system is opened from October 2008.
IEEE RAS Travel grants requirements
- Registration as IEEE Student Member. Student members of the IEEE RAS will have preference over non members (a student could apply at the same time for IEEE and RAS membership).
- Certificate as graduate student at Master or Doctor Course, or senior undergraduate doing thesis work.
- Letter of recommendation from the student's advisor or equivalent.
- Curriculum Vitae including publications (limited to 3-4 pages).
- Abstract of poster paper to be presented at the Robotics Poster Competition, to be held during EVIC 2008, written in English (3 pages).
- Students must send their documents directly to Dr. Pablo Zegers, pzegers@uandes.cl.
Notes:
- Deadline for Application to Travel Grant: November 5, 2008.
- Decision Notification: November 7, 2008.
- The deadlines cannot be extended.
- A student must actually attend the Summer School in order to receive the check.
- Beware that the travel grant amount may not be sufficient to cover the total travel expenses. We recommend to the students to apply for local help at their own university or IEEE section.
- A student must submit an abstract to the Poster Competition at EVIC 2008 in order to apply for a travel grant.
